School History
Elk Grove's fourth comprehensive high school opened in the fall of 1994 with freshmen and sophomore students. In the fall of 1996, it became a complete school with four grades. Laguna Creek is an innovative high school of the future with block scheduling and a fast paced curriculum. The school received its name from the relatively new community of Laguna Creek and the waters that drain a large part of South Sacramento County. Gabriel Moraga, Spanish explorer of the early 1800s, gave the name to the area noting the great swamplands and waterways of the Cosumnes River and its tributaries.
